    Warrnambool's Fun 4 Kids Festival
       A comprehensive guide to Australia's largest children's festival 2013

Fun 4 Kids - 2013   The Fun Begins

30th June 2013

This years Fun 4 Kids got underway this morning with a steady stream of mums, dads and kids arriving at the new entrance of the festival. This year, the newly upgraded Lighthouse theatre is being used as an entry point for the festival rather than in previous years, it was only used as a ticket collection point. Over the next eight day there is expected to be close to 27,000 visitors attending the festival which is expected to generate over $500,000 in ticket sales and about $2.5 Million in economic benefits to the local community.
The highlight of this years festival is the performance by “The Wiggles”, whose national tour was able to be incorporated into the Fun4Kids programme

Now in its 15th year the Fun4Kids Festival has now established itself as Victoria's premier children's festival and attracts thousands of children ( and their parents) to Warrnambool each year to participate in a broad range of performance, creative and interactive arts, hands-on workshops and exceptional live entertainment.
The Festival is a not-for- profit event assisted by local sponsors, an army of volunteers and the generous support of the Warrnambool community and is staged during the first week of the winter school vacation each year ( this year 1st July to 8th July)
The Festival is set in 2.5 acre purpose-built, indoor village located in the centre of the city, close to accommodation, restaurants and entertainment venues (The festival is suitable for children between the ages of 2 and 12 years.)

This years feature performers will include ...

The Collective - X Factor Pop Group (pictured above) - are this years headline act for Fun 4 Kids,
Coming together on the recent season of The X Factor, pop group, "The Collective" have rapidly become the new heart throb group of Austrtalian entertainment.

Cosentino is now regarded as the best illusionist in Australia, and one of the best in the world. He has performed at Fun4Kids a number of times in the last five years and will be embarking on a worldwide tour later in the year.

Perenial favoutrites, The Wiggles will make a welcome appearance this years festival. The world’s most popular children’s entertainment group, The Wiggles, are heading out on the road to introduce their new team and will be coming to Fun4Kids as part of their national tour. After 21 years of entertaining children around the globe, it’s the beginning of an exciting new era for The Wiggles as they head out on their ‘Taking Off’ tour. All of your Wiggly friends, Dorothy the Dinosaur, Captain Feathersword, Wags the Dog and Henry the Octopus, will be along as well to dance and sing along to Hot Potato, Rock-a-Bye Your Bear and all your favourite Wiggles hits.

Sleeping Beauty
The classic fairytale is transformed into a spectacular theatrical rock musical for children and grown ups. Following in the long and well respected tradition of Alpha Shows, Sleeping Beauty brings together the classic tale with a hilarious modern take, as well as integrating magical and important messages that help to raise consciousness and awareness in all audiences. This is sure to be a Fun4Kids favourite and not to be missed!

Join Australia’s favourite twins, B1 and B2 in their very own live show featuring some of their much loved hit songs as featured in their TV...

Fun 4 Kids will also feature dozens of other acts including

Scott Tweedie is proving to be one of hottest young stars to come out of Australia. Smart, good looking and funny his appeal crosses a broad demo – from pre-schoolers to tweens, teens to their parents. Scott’s affable charm has made him an instant star both in Australia and abroad.

Kayne Tremills is a fresh, unique and energetic presenter who is making his mark on Australian television. His genuine presence and well-assured presenting style landed him his first role as the host for ABC3, Australia’s top-rating youth channel. He describes his current role as “the ultimate apprenticeship”, a place to hone his craft and explore his passion for television.

Will Rosie, our adorable little penguin, with her brave and beautiful sheepdog mates, outwit the all too hungry foxes? Rosie Island Rescue is the brand new stage presentation of the very best environmental "feel good" story going around. Presented by the marvellous Canya Dantz team, this is a musical swimming with great songs your children will cherish for a lifetime.

Accommodation and Transport Options
There is a good choice of accommodation options in Warrnambool although bear in mind that most properties close to the festival are apartment style lodging and will be in $175 to $200 per night price range, and most of these will be booked already.
If you are looking for something a bit cheaper then there are a number of good 3-4 star motel within about a kilometre of the festival, although don't worry too much about where you stay as there is a shuttle bus operating during the festival which will pick you up and drop you off.
The service runs every 30 minutes between 9:00am and 5:30pm and cost about $2.00 per trip.
For more information about accommodation or the shuttle service then we recommend you contact any of the advertisers on this page
For visitors intending to come via road keep in mind there is very little in the way of free long term car parking in the centre of Warrnambool so it might be worth considering parking at Warrnambool Showgrounds in Koroit Street, and use the free shuttle that runs between the showgrounds and the festival. This service runs continuously from 9:30am and 5:30pm daily.

Admission Prices
This year admission prices have remained the same as last year with an 8 day family pass set at $415 and a one day family ticket at $125 and single one day passes at $32.50 and an 8 day pass is still set at $120
The other curious policy of the Fun 4 Kids management is to charge extra for booking direct - if you book on line a family pass will cost $415 however if you go direct to the booking office and pay cash you will be charged an additional $10 for the priveledge, which seems to be an odd way to treat your patrons.
