A quick look at the township of Apollo Bay
Population 2500 Location - 3 hr hour drive from Melbourne along the great ocean road, also about the same driving time via the Princes highway.
First settled in the 1860's as a logging town servicing the Otway timber industry, now almost exclusively a holiday and tourist destination. .
Apollo Bay has a large variety of accommodation, from motels, luxury apartments, caravan parks, holiday rental properties, B&B and backpacker accommodation and also a large number of privately owned holday homes (so called investment properties) that available for rent.
Most of Apollo Bays accommodation is within a few hundred metres from the sea, and quite a few properties have good sea views.
Facilities in Apollo Bay include a small cinema, supermaket, a variety of restaurants, from take away to fine dining, two good hotels as well as a small but comprehensive retail sector
Apollo Bay is an ideal destination for a quiet seaside holiday for families or couples and is a popular stopover point for visitors travelling along the Great Ocean Road

Apollo Bay Attractions

Cape Otway Light Station Located about 15 kilometres west of Apollo Bay, the Cape Otway Light station is the oldest, surviving lighthouse in mainland Australia. The lighthouse has been in continuous operation since 1848, and is open to visitors all year

The Otways Fly An elevated tree top walkway that takes you through a section of the Otways Rainforest. The Otway Fly Treetop walk is located about 30 minutes from Apollo Bay.
Mait's Rest Located 17 km to the west of Apollo Bay on The Great Ocean Road, Maits Rest is a board walk that takes you through a spectacular section of rain forest. The walk is named after Maitland Bryant one of the regions first foresters. Entry is free and there is a small car park and picnic area
